About Melissa Visco
Creator of Midlife, Understood™
Psychological learning and guided reflection for women meeting the questions of midlife.
Why I created Midlife, Understood™
I created this work because I know firsthand that midlife can bring a kind of change many women are not fully prepared for.
It is not only about hormones or physical symptoms. It can also touch identity, tolerance, confidence, motivation, relationships, purpose and the way you experience yourself.
When women are not given language for these changes, it can be easy to feel confused, alone or ashamed of what is happening.
I wanted to create a warmer, more coherent place to begin—one that offers understanding and guidance while recognising that each woman remains the expert in her own life.
How I approach the work
Midlife, Understood™ begins with real life: an ordinary moment, a thought that keeps returning, or a question that no longer goes away.
From there, I use one best-fit evidence-informed lens to help the experience make sense in clear, accessible language. The understanding is then brought back to the woman’s own life, before offering one grounded place to begin.
Real life first. Evidence second. Personal application third.
The aim is not to tell a woman who she is or what decision she should make. It is to help her develop a more dependable way to understand herself and approach the questions ahead.
